Kometa P17/Holmes sfotografowana 15 listopada 2007. To jedna z najbardziej niezwykłych komet jakie pojawiły się w czasach, gdy człowiek naukowo prowadzi obserwacje nieba. 24 października kometa nagle pojaśniała około milion razy. Kometę możemy nadal obserwować gołym okiem pod ciemnym niebem w konstelacji Perseusza.W chwili obecnej Kometa Holmes znajduje się w odległości ok. 280 mln km od Ziemi i jest największym obiektem w Układzie Słonecznym. Średnica jej głowy wynosi bowiem ok. 5 mln km !!! Niebieskie gwiazdy widoczne w otoczeniu komety należą do otwartej gromady gwiazd Alfa Persei (Melotte20) odległej o około 600 lat świetlnych. Jednak to jasna kometa odległa o 15 minut świetlnych dominuje nad scenerią wraz ze swą niebieskawą głową oraz skróconym, zielonkawym warkoczem. Jasna gwiazda powyżej komety to Alfa Persei czyli Mirfak. Parametry: 15.11.2007, 21.16-21.35 CSE, ogniskowa 170 mm, iso 800, total eksp. 300 sek, Nikon D50, prowadzenie na montażu paralaktycznym, DSS+NI. Nie jest to wprawdzie Gwiazda Betlejemska, ale i tak warto unieść głowę i rozejrzeć się po nieboskłonie. Natomiast na monitorze zdecydowanie najlepiej na PE.
