Historia opowiada że hrabia książe Kacper Denhoff z Kruszyny, sprzeciwiając się małżeństwu syna swego z córką biednego dzierżawcy sąsiednich Bogusławic, podczas nieobecności syna, kazał dwór dzierżawcy spalić, przy czym spłonęli jego mieszkańcy wraz z narzeczoną młodego dziedzica, który dowiedziawszy się o swym nieszczęściu zastrzelił się w tym miejscu.Ojciec po tej tragedii kazał wybudować sobie pustelnię w pałacowym parku,spędził w niej resztę życia.W miejscu tragicznej śmierci syna,dla jej upamiętnienia wybudował tą kolumnę,początkowo była ona zwieńczona krzyżem i posiadała tablicę epitafijną z herbem Dzik...Ostatnio odkryto coś niezwykłego:-kiedy usiądziemy w pustelni przy kominku który znajdował się w jej lewym narożniku,to przez otwór po przeciwległej stronie pustelni zobaczymy kolumnę na wzgórzu w odległości ok 1 km,a linia prosta przeprowadzona między okiem obserwatora a kolumną przetnie z idealną dokładnością kaplicę Denhoffów na Jasnej Górze,której zostali fundatorami,odkrycie to zostało nazwane Linią Denhoffa..Pobyt króla Jana Sobieskiego w Kruszynie oraz jego żony Marii Kazimiery w dużej mierze przyczynił się do tragedii, która doprowadziła do upadku rodu Denhoffów. Władający wtedy Kruszyną Kacper Denhoff miał jedynego syna, którego znana z intryg królowa postanowiła ożenić ze swoją kuzynką. Było to po myśli dumnego magnata, jednak syn, nie chciał o tym słyszeć, ponieważ zakochany był w Barbarze Szafraniec, córce dzierżawcy pobliskich Bogusławic...Ostatnio kiedy tam byłem zastałem na kolumnie powieszoną tabliczkę na której ktoś napisał:\\\\\\\'\\\\\\\'Tu zadano kres pięknej miłości\\\\\\\'\\\\\\\'...
