Mysikrólik, miły ptaszek z rzędu wróblowatych istnieje w niezgodzie z regułami dotyczącymi większości innych gatunków zwierząt. Przede wszystkim jest bardzo mały jak na ptaka. To najmniejszy ptaszek Europy. Cały mysikrólik to zaledwie 9 cm ciała i 5 g masy. A jeść musi mysikrólik wiele. Codziennie musi zjeść kilkanaście gramów pożywnego jadła, dwa do trzech razy tyle, ile sam waży, by utrzymać się w kondycji i przegłodować zimne noce. Jest szalenie ruchliwy, przez cały dzień przeszukuje gałęzie, wykonuje ponad 40 podskoków na minutę.Zastanawiająca jest też wielkość mózgu tego stworzonka. Aż 6,8 % masy ciała to mózg. U człowieka mózg stanowi zaledwie 1,9 % masy. Gdyby zachować mysikrólikowe proporcje dla człowieka, to nasz mózg musiałby ważyć około 6 kg!
