Podczas Pierwszej Wojny Światowej samolot porósł w piórka - z hobbystycznej zabawki przerodził się w broń kluczową na polu bitwy. W kilka lat dokonał się niezwykły postęp, zbudowano wiele niesamowitych maszyn. Traf chciał, że te najbardziej niezwykłe były albo trudne w użyciu, albo... bezużyteczne. Największą rolę odegrały samoloty niezbyt wybitne, za to pewne, niezawodne, dobre... Do takich z pewnością należał SPAD 7C1 - niekoniecznie najzwrotniejszy, ale za to szybki jak diabli i potwornie wytrzymały. Wyprodukowano ich całą masę, służyły jeszcze po Wielkiej Wojnie w wielu krajach, w tym w Polsce. Kilkaset z nich trafiło do USA, jeden z nich cieszy wzrok gości Narodowego Muzeum Sił Powietrznych...
