Pierwszomajowy Chrząszcz Majowy -->> \"bezowy\" :-)) Długość 25-35 mm, ciało owalne, nieco wydłużone, czarne z białymi plamami na bokach odwłoka, czułki, pokrywy skrzydłowe i odnóża brunatne. Chrabąszcz żywi się liśćmi różnych drzew liściastych, a jego larwy żerują na korzeniach; mogą uszkadzać system korzeniowy młodych roślin; z punktu widzenia człowieka są szkodnikami szkółek, upraw oraz trawników . Samica składa jaja pod ziemią, w wydrążonym przez siebie korytarzu. Larwy, zwane pędrakami, żywią się niezdrewniałymi korzeniami roślin, wylęgają się w lipcu. Ich rozwój trwa 3-4 lat. Osobniki dojrzałe giną w czerwcu . Płeć dorosłego osobnika można odróżnić m.in. po ilości blaszek na miotełkowato zakończonych buławkach. Samce mają ich 7, a samice 6.
