Tycho to nazwa krateru, tego wyróżniającego się, w pobliżu centrum. Jego średnica to 85 km. Nazwa krateru upamiętnia jednego z astronomów, Duńczyka Tycho Brahe. W zasadzie to nie dokonał on w swoim życiu jakiegoś doniosłego odkrycia. Wsławił się tym że przeprowadził bardzo precyzyjne (jak na owe czasy) pomiary pozycji gwiazd i planet. Mimo że był zwolennikiem teorii geocentrycznej, to dokładność jego obserwacji pozwoliła by jego pomocnik Johannes Kepler sformułował swoje prawa ruchu planet - tzw. prawa Keplera. Opisywały one sposób w jaki planety kreślą swoje orbity wokół Słońca, a co za tym idzie odrzucały poglądy mistrza u którego Kepler był pomocnikiem :) CANON 10D SYNTA 200/1200.
