Po odzyskaniu niepodległości na nowo w 1919 roku została erygowana rzymskokatolicka parafia z lokalizacją kościoła w Tokarach. W 1922 roku odzyskano dawny budynek kościoła, lecz zbudowano z niego jedynie plebanię. Obecny drewniany kościół został wzniesiony w latach 1934 - 1935 w stylu narodowym według projektu krakowskiego architekta Wincentego Wdowiszewskiego. Jego budową kierował ks. Mieczysław Kasperowicz, ówczesny proboszcz parafii. Oryginalna architektura świątyni nawiązuje do drewnianych kościołów Podkarpacia. Do budowy fundamentu użyto prawdopodobnie kamienia pochodzącego z dawnego kościoła w Wilanowie i wmurowano weń kamień nagrobny z 1828 roku. Konsekracja świątyni odbyła się 13 czerwca 1935 roku. W czasie ostatniej wojny kościół szczęśliwie ocalał, chociaż wieś Tokary została podzielona w 1945 roku nową granicą państwową. Dzisiaj jest miejscem modlitwy mieszkańców Tokar i okolicznych wsi oraz stanowi cenny obiekt zabytkowy.
