Kościół - Pomnik Odzyskania Niepodległości, znajduje się na wzgórzu św. Rocha, na miejscu przeniesionego cmentarza. Inicjatorem budowy kościoła był wieloletni proboszcz parafii św. Rocha, ks. Adam Abramowicz, również budowniczy kościoła w Goniądzu. Kościół jest jednym z najbardziej znanych nowoczesnych polskich kościołów. Zbudowany w latach 1927-1946 w stylu modernistyczno-ekspresjonistycznym wg projektu Oskara Sosnowskiego na planie ośmioboku, składającego się z trzech stopniowo narastających brył. Pierwsza tworzy zasadniczy plan świątyni, drugą i trzecią stanowią ośmioboczne parawanowe attyki. Nad bryłą świątyni dominuje wysmukła wieża o wysokości 83 m. W latach 40 - tych XX wieku budowa kościoła ukończona przez architekta Stanisława Bukowskiego. W czasie okupacji władze sowieckie chciały w niedokończonej budowli urządzić cyrk.
