Wiatrak w Hołowczycach był jedynym czynnym młynem w wojnę w całej okolicy. I dzień, i noc wiatrak był czynny. Można było jedynie mleć zboże na śrutę. Po wojnie młynarze myśleli, że odetchną. Jednak w latach 50 - tych nie oparli się klasowemu oczyszczaniu wsi. Przejawiało się to w nakładniu podatków i domiarów. Większość właścicieli wiatraków na Podlasiu w tym okresie zwinęła interes. Ale nie dość, że się wyrejestrowało, to był jeszcze nakaz wyjmowania śmigów.
