Pod koniec XVIII w. minister pruski hrabia Hoym zlecił poszukiwanie złóż węgla kamiennego na obszarze Babiej Góry (dzisiaj tereny Biertułtów, Niewiadomia i Niedobczyc). Poszukiwania powiodły się i w 1792 r. powstała kopalnia, którą nazwano Hoym. W 1936 r. na cześć prezydenta RP Ignacego Mościckiego nazwano ją Ignacy. I tak przetrwała (nawet przez okres okupacji) do 1967 r. W tym czasie kopalnia przestała istnieć jako samodzielny zakład i została wcielona do kopalni Rydułtowy i odtąd nosi nazwę Rydułtowy Ruch II. W idealnym stanie zachowały się tu dwie unikatowe maszyny parowe: pierwsza z 1900 r., która obsługuje szyb Głowacki, i druga, nieco młodsza, działająca przy szybie Kościuszko.
