Ropucha szara (Bufo bufo) to jeden z największych naszych płazów, dorasta do 20cm, są to również płazy długowieczne - rzekomo samice mogą żyć nawet 40 lat! Obecnie mamy bardzo dogodną porę do obserwacji tych płazów w tym ich godów. Samce ropuchy szarej słyną z szalonego libido ;P które co ciekawe nie ogranicza się jedynie do samic. Ba ich partnerkami stają się także liczne o taj porze roku żaby trawne i inne gatunki żab. Rozognione bufoniaste bufony gorączkowo poszukują partnerki i rzucają się dosłownie na wszystko co znajdzie się w stawie: wspomniane żaby, butelki, kawałki styropianu, obsiadają nawet ludzkie palce zanurzone w wodzie. Podobno widywano je nawet w ampleksuie (miłosnym uścisku) z... pyskiem karpia ;)
