Turcja - Kapadocja 3.07.2007 Przypominające gigantyczne smardze, kamienne twory można spotkać w wielu miejscach wokół miasta Goreme w Kapadocji. Około 20 milionów lat temu okolicę zasypywały popioły wulkaniczne, ostatnia najwyższa warstwa utworzyła skałę wyraźnie twardszą i bardziej odporną na erozję niż jaśniejsze od niej pokłady niższe. Przez czas jaki upłynął od okresu wzmożonej aktywności wulkanicznej, woda wyrzeźbiła spektakularne twory. Pojawiły się głębokie wąwozy i ostańce w kształcie smardzów, stojące samotnie lub w grupach po kilka lub nawet kilkanaście sztuk.
