W 1460 r. właściciel dóbr domanowskich Piotr de Cathe (Koc, Kot) funduje w Domanowie pierwszy drewniany kościół i uposaża go w dwie włóki ziemi, siedlisko i ogród pod plebanię. W 1519 r. została erygowana parafia domanowska. W czasie "potopu szwedzkiego" w 1656 roku drewniany kościół został zniszczony. W XVII w. został wybudowany nowy, niewielki drewniany kościół, pokryty częściowo dachówką, częściowo słomą. W 1763 r. staraniem ks. Franciszka Pietraszko zbudowano nowy, obecny kościół, który został konsekrowany w 1779 r. Na skutek postanowień Traktatu Tylżyckiego z 1807 r. nastąpił podział parafii, nowa parafia powstała w Piekutach przy ówczesnym kosciele pomocniczym. W 1851 r. przeprowadzono gruntowny remont kościoła. W 1875 r. dobudowano do kościoła "babiniec", a nad nim umieszczono chór, a dach kościoła pokryto blachą cynkową. Przy kościele stoi stara drewniana dzwonnica z XVIII w., przebudowana w 1876 r.
