Murowany z lokalnego kamienia wapiennego budynek synagogi wzniesiono w drugiej połowie XVIII wieku, a według innych źródeł w 1677r. na planie prostokąta w stylu późnobarokowym. W południowo-zachodniej części bożnicy znajduje się główna sala modlitewna, a od strony północnej babiniec. Dawniej wnętrza synagogi zdobione były bogatą polichromią naścienną oraz sklepieniową, przedstawiającą między innymi Ścianę Płaczu w Jerozolimie, Grób Racheli oraz zwierzęta. Podczas remontu w 1953r. zrekonstruowano ośmioboczne sklepienie wg projektu K. Sicińskiego, lecz niestety bez dekoracji oraz zamurowano arkady, które ponownie przebito w 1995r. Do dnia dzisiejszego zachowało się sklepienie przedsionka. O synagodze istnieje legenda mówiąca, że bożnicę miał ufundować sam król Kazimierz Wielki jako dar dla ukochanej Esterki. Synagoga zniszczona doszczętnie podczas ostatniej wojny, odbudowana w 1953r. z przeznaczeniem na kino. Od 2003r., gdy kino zamknięto, jej właścicielem jest warszawska gmina żydowska.
