Miejsce w którym znajduje się ta kaplica nazywa się Krynica, w odległości 1 km od Hodyszewa. Pierwsza wzmianka o Hodyszewie pochodzi z 1529 r., była to wówczas wieś królewska, którą zamieszkiwała ludność ruska wyznania prawosławnego. Wiadomo, że w 1562 r. istniała tu cerkiew prawosławna, którą po unii brzeskiej w 1596 r. przekształcono na cerkiew unicką (greko-katolicką). W 1775 r. rozebrano starą drewnianą cerkiew i wybudowano na jej miejscu kolejną, także drewnianą świątynię. Po zniesieniu unii w 1875 r. ponownie przeszła ona w ręce wiernych prawosławnych. Wkrótce drewnianą cerkiew rozebrano. Wtedy to z części drewna wybudowano mniejszą cerkiew, którą następnie w 1932 r. przeniesiono do Krynicy (w jej wnętrzu znajduje się ocembrowane źródełko). Do dnia dzisiejszego w Hodyszewie nie zachowała się żadna cerkiew, ale o tym może przy innej okazji.
