10 lipca 2001 roku, Jedwabne. Głosny dzień uroczystości rocznicowych. Na ogrodzeniu kościoła w Jedwabnem kartka, że to Niemcy zamordowali Żydów w Jedwabnem. Za ogrodzeniem kościelnym grupa prawdziwych Polaków. Mieszkańcy w pozamykanych od środka domach, wyglądający zza firanek. Dziwnie długo dzwoniące na Anioł Pański dzwony kościelne. A później - kiedy Malovany, kantor z Nowego Jorku, zaczął przejmującą pieśń, skoczne dźwięki disco polo, dolatujące z pobliskiego obejścia. Nosorożeć by wyczuł tę niechęć miejscowych wobec uczestników tej uroczystości. I ten żydowski dziadek, który przywiózł wnuków, by niesli transparent, dający świadectwo prawdzie. Niechetnie widzianej przez jednych i drugich. Było wtedy w Jedwabnem wiele znaczących postaci. A jednak ci właśnie zyskali mój największy podziw.
