Ta prawosławna kaplica, dawniej rzymskokatolicka, jest najstarszą zachowaną świątynią w Białymstoku. Została ufundowana w 1758 r. przez Jana Klemensa Branickiego wraz z przyległym, nie istniejącym obecnie cmentarzem. Barokowa kaplica jest położona w centrum miasta na wzgórzu. Pełni również funkcję cerkwi garnizonowej parafii wojskowej p.w. Apostołów Piotra i Pawła.
