Pomnik Rowana Gillespiego, złożony z sześciu figur, stanowi upamiętnienie ofiar wielkiego głodu który sięgnął apogeum w latach 1847-49. W skutek głodu zmarło w Irlandii około miliona osób a kilka milionów wyemigrowało do Ameryki i Australii.... Bardzo sugestywne postacie odzwierciedlają mieszane emocje - od desperacji przez cierpienie po nadzieję ofiar głodu.... Również umieszczenie pomnika pomiędzy Custom House (dom celny) a Dublin Harbour (portem) stwarza nadzieję na lepsze jutro, gdzieś na emigracji.... Tej rodzinie ją dano....
