W północnym Nigrze trwa teraz wojna. Góry Air odcięte są od reszty kraju, rząd wyrzucił lub aresztował wszystkich dziennikarzy, zagraniczni są deportowani a lokalni w więzieniach. Region jest niezwykle ubogi, teraz odcięty od pomocy z zewnątrz, grozi mu klęska głodu. Rząd radzi sobie dobrze, broniąc przede wszystkim zysków ze swoich kopalni uranu, którego cena od dawna zwyżkuje, więc świat, na czele z Chińczykami przysyłającymi swoją broń, jest zadowolony. Lokalną ludność, która z niszczących środowisko kopalni nie ma nic, można przecież nazwać pożyczonym od amerykańskich przyjaciół jakże wygodnym epitetem - terroryści.
