Na horyzoncie stoi kilkadziesiąt ruin opuszczonych kamiennych domów, w których mieszkali robotnicy pracujący przy odzyskiwaniu soli z terenów zalanych morską wodą. Dwa z tych domów odrestaurowano i założono w nich muzeum– jest to niezwykłe Muzeum Salin. Cały teren, który leży pomiędzy rzeką Soczą a Dragonją i Morzem Adriatyckim jest Parkiem Krajobrazowym. Robi niesamowite wrażenie i przypomina miasto – widmo. Panuje tu nieprzenikniona cisza. Obszar, który zajmuje około 650 hektarów to plątanina tysięcy grobli, rowów, basenów i kanałów. Po groblach można dojść do ostatniego z wiatraków, który przy silniejszych powiewach wiatru okrutnie skrzypiąc napędza sprawną jeszcze pompę i przelewa wodę między basenami solnymi.
